csi miami season 3 and4 188

Happy Fathers Day!

I think Dad’s are underrated.

Do you ever notice when people are accepting awards or making speeches they always thank their Moms.

Now don’t get me wrong. Moms are awesome. Heck, I’m a Mom. I’d like to think I am awesome! But there is something about Dads (that much needed male energy) that is just so special.

I think having the title or role of being a Father or a Dad is so vital to the balance of life. The ying and the yang.

I am of the belief that the people in your life are brought together for reasons that aren’t always known to us. (You don’t always get a Dad in a conventional way!)

I am very blessed and grateful for my amazing Dad!

I come from a very close knit Italian family. My Dad and Mom are my best friends. I truly like them as people. Not just parents.

My Dad taught me many things throughout my life.

For one, he is very artistic.

I think that is where I inherited my artistic abilities. Also he is one of the funniest people I know. My house growing up was always filled with jokes and a lighter look on life. As a result I feel like that quality has been passed on to me. I can the find humor in situations. When you laugh or can smile even at your own expense your life has so much less stress.

My Dad and Mom have been a huge part of my family’s life.  We have been very fortunate to spend a lot of time together.

My Dad is like a second Father to my kids and by example he has demonstrated how to balance being a good, strong person and have the ability to show affection and have a great sense of humor.

My Dad always believes in me.

Thank you Dad!

I was probably  one of the few kids that would never lie to their parents. They had so much faith and trust in me. We had mutual respect and I valued that too much to ever deceive them. Honesty is really the best policy.

If you are honest you can have a good nights sleep when you put your head down on your pillow.

My Dad has taught me so many things and continues to do so. If I write down everything he has taught and done for me this blog would go in forever…..

You know how I feel Dad I try to let you know how important you are to me everyday..Not just on Fathers Day.

As I said I come from a close-knit family and thinking of my family I want to share a story with you,

It is about Dads.

I believe, no I know people are brought together for reasons beyond our comprehension.

When I was growing up my Fathers brother, My Uncle (Rip…. I know you are seeing this xo) and his family lived next door to us. There was my Uncle, Aunt and my three cousins, two boys and a girl, between the cousins and my brother and I we all were around the same ages. We grew up more like brothers and sisters.

My Uncle (like his mother, my grandma) were red headed Sicilians. (David Caruso you know what I am talking about… Another red headed Sicilian!) Anyways getting back on track. My brother and I look more like my Moms side of the family. Where my cousins all looked like my Dads brother my Uncle.. Especially my oldest male cousin. Right down to the red hair!

We had fun growing up together. But as you know life is constantly changing and when we were just turning into teens my Uncle and Aunt split up. That was a shock!

And as kids you often can’t see that coming. But that wasn’t the biggest shock. The big shock was that my oldest cousin wasn’t my Uncle’s biological son.

My Aunt had a short-lived marriage before my Uncle and when they got married he adopted her son.

Now I realize adoption isn’t a rare thing but the point I am trying to make is. They looked identical!

Now do you see what I mean? More time than we are conscience of there is something bigger that brings people together. My oldest cousin was always supposed to be my Uncle’s son. And my Uncle was truly his father. It goes beyond DNA.

Not only did they look alike they had the same mannerisms. You would never look at them together and think they were not biologically connected.

I believe greater powers bring people together.

That is a beautiful thing.

Last but certainly not least I want to thank the Father of my children. Words cannot convey all the love and gratitude that you are in our lives.  I know our kids will learn by your great example. We love you!

Happy Fathers Day to all my family and friends.

Celebrate the male figures that are in your life, past and present…

And Dads ..

Even if you are not thanked in speeches and hugged as often as you should be…. know that you are loved!

Peace and love,

Cheri
